Get the job you want, with a little help from the U.S. Department of Labor
If you’re out of a job, or might be soon, you may have more opportunities than you think. Instead of applying to the same jobs with the same skills, you could train for a better job—for free.
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) helps residents in need do more than just get back on their feet:
- What is WIA? A program that helps people without jobs (or who are going to lose their job) train for new skills in the work place.
- Who can get funding from the WIA? Low-income or laid off Boston residents
- Where do I start? Boston One-Stop Career Center (OSCC) listed to the left – Boston Career Link, JobNet or The Work Place.
For more information please visit the Boston WIA Training Application for full details on WIA and OSCC.
For teen jobs, read: Summer Jobs for Teens. If you still have any other questions please call the Mayor’s Health Line (617-534-5050).
