What Makes Boston Shine? (Your Help!)

Posted on April 25, 2012

Have you heard about Boston Shines? The annual citywide clean up and community service event plays an important and positive role in Boston, aimed at completing projects that will better the community. The Boston Shines 365 program gives tools and materials to volunteers interested in completing projects in all the neighborhoods in Boston.

Volunteers will join others to paint a community center, plant flowers, sweep, rake and clean up trash, helping neighborhoods become cleaner and healthier places.

With programs like the Neighborhood Clean Up (Saturdays), the Community Impact Project and the Annual Citywide Cleanup & Service Event, there are countless opportunities to get involved in making Boston better. Visit BostonShines to sign up or get in contact with your neighborhood coordinator. This is a great way to give back to the community and have a better appreciation for the place you live.

Want to take the clean-up even further? The Boston Transportation Department will be offering free removals of old abandoned vehicles from properties—it’s a free way to get rid of a vehicle you don’t use. However, you must request to have it removed by this weekend, April 27 and 28th.
