Public Health Thank You Day

Posted on November 21, 2011

Today, Monday, November 21st , is Public Health Thank You Day! Research!America wants to recognize the importance of public health organizations and professionals by observing this day.  The public health arena is full of hardworking men and women who have dedicated their lives to ensuring that we as Americans are able to live comfortably. Public health organizations are responsible for an extraordinary amount of the things we take for granted, such as clean air, drinkable water, vaccinations, and much more. Public Health Thank You day is a day to appreciate the men and women who make it possible for us to drink water straight from the tap, enjoy our local parks, and dine at restaurants without worrying about food safety or secondhand smoke. To see just how much public health does for us, check out this video, done by the Association of Schools of Public Health for their “This is Public Health” campaign. “Like” Public Health Thank You Day on Facebook and join us in appreciating all of the great accomplishments of Public Health, and say thanks to all the men and women who make these things possible – especially your local board of health – like the Boston Public Health Commission in the City of Boston.
