Privacy Breach at Brigham & Women’s/Faulkner

Posted on August 8, 2011

On June 21, a physician at the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner hospital lost an external hard drive that may have contained medical records for 638 patients.  The Brigham has sent letters to those patients explaining this situation. Patients who have questions can call toll-free at 877-694-3367.

The hard drive may have contained information from July 10, 2009 to January 28, 2011, including patient’s names, medical records, date of admission, diagnosis, medication prescribed. The device however does not have patient’s social security information, insurance numbers, or account details. The hospital is working to ensure that this does not happen again.
