Shoveling snow can be time consuming, but it’s important to clear your driveways and walkways to prevent slips and falls. If snow has made an appearance on your turf, here are some tips for Bostonians from a local website on how to stay safe and warm while shoveling.

  • Dress warmly: wear layers and make sure your head is covered
  • Change out of wet clothing quickly to prevent heat loss
  • Warm up and stretch before starting to shovel
  • Cover your mouth with a scarf to warm the air you’re breathing
  • Take lots of breaks while shoveling
  • Even though it’s cold out, you can still get dehydrated, so make sure to drink lots of water
  • Wear shoes with traction and watch out for ice
