winter safety

Posted on January 5, 2011

Winter is here and we are getting battered with snow. Here are some tips to help make those people who need to travel in this snowy and cold weather, feel a little more at ease and not like they are going into a arctic exploration or adventure.

  • Dress warmly and stay dry
  • Wear  a hat, scarf and gloves
  • Avoid walking in ice
  • If you have to do outdoor chores, dress warmly and work slowly
  • Avoid traveling in ice-covered roads, overpasses, and bridges if possible
  • If you’re stranded, it is best to stay in your car.

Make sure that when you go out you have several layers of clothing and water resistant coat and boots. Pay attention to what your body tells you. If you’re shivering it is most likely the time for you to head indoors and warm up. Notify friends and family if you decide to go out and do any winter activities such as snowboarding, hiking. And if so pack dry clothing, two-wave radio water proof matches and paraffin fire starters. Click here for more information.
