The Tie between Safety and Healthy Habits

According to the report “Addressing the Intersection: Preventing Violence and Promoting Healthy Eating and Active Living” violence in the community is an issue making many unable to have an active living. When people do not feel safe in their communities, it is unlikely for them to use “local parks, access public transportation or let their children walk to school or play outside” causing people to develop unhealthy habits to chronic illnesses. This report is trying to bring into awareness this connection that until now, “very little research on the impact of the community violence on healthy eating and activity- and potential solutions- has been done”.
