Did You Know? – Homophobic Remarks

Posted on April 22, 2010

You ever heard the saying while you were in school. ” Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”.  That may be true at certain times, but not all the time. The use of biased and derogatory language is often unchallenged by school staff – only 17.6% of students report that school staff frequently intervene when homophobic remarks are made in their presence. Saying these derogatory remarks not only hurt the person you are sayin it to physically, but also mentally. So watch how you say and what you say because your words are powerful. Source
